Why Is This Site Called Pressaz?
My site is NOT about coffee…
It's about Money!
Here's the story:
I used to live in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It's got everything anyone could ever want: music, art, culture, and awesome beer, plus the combination of city life & nearby country getaways…
In Prague, expat life is thriving, and you can meet people from any country in the world, from all walks of life. Working there was one of the greatest experiences of my life.
Everything was perfect With one catch
I was a preschool teacher, so my responsibilities consisted of finger painting, fixing snacks, and nap time. I made good money for playing all day.
But it was a 2 hour commute, and because we had to be there at 7:30 AM, I had to be awake at 5:00 in the morning, down to the tram at 5:25, and I couldn't miss any connections if I wanted to get the 6:37 bus out of town. After that, I still had a 20 minute walk through a snowy village to get to the exclusive English preschool where I worked.
Yeah, I know, it sounds like a crazy setup, but this great job was in one of the suburbs of Prague, but I wanted the action of the city. Did you know that in the dead of winter the temperature can get down to -20 C° (-5 F°). Can you imagine having to get up at 5 AM in below freezing weather?
Mornings were miserable. Absolutely horrible. What made it worse is that I didn't have time to make myself a damn cup of coffee. I was already getting up at 5. I could barely shower, shave, and choke down some cold breakfast before I had to catch that train.
Through I loved my job, I fantasized every morning about waking up with the sun in my window.
…about waking up a bit later
…about having just a little bit more time to prepare myself for the day
…Enough time for just Pressaz
So I did that for two years, and then I decided enough was enough, and changed jobs. I moved to China, where the teaching landscape was much different.
During the week, I only worked 1 hour a day in the evenings. I could do basically whatever I wanted all day long, including wake up at anytime I wanted to.
But there were 2 problems. One, was that I had to work 13 hour shifts on the weekends.
Two, was that I didn't want to be a teacher forever. I was doing it just so I could travel, and couldn't see myself teaching 6 year-olds the ABC's for the rest of my life. Not that there's anything wrong with being a teacher – it's a tough job, and I tip my hat to people who have chosen education as a career path.
It just wasn't my thing.
So I had to devise a plan.
I needed to be able to maintain this awesome lifestyle of waking up whenever I wanted, but in a career that I could actually enjoy, long term. What could I do so that I could design my own work day?
I decided to see if I could make money on the internet.
That sounded like a great idea. I could work from home, from any place in the world, and I would never have to wake up at 5 in the morning or pull a 13 hour shift of Duck-Duck-Goose and vocab flashcards.
I could buy the gourmet beans, and grind them fresh each morning.
Maybe on Monday I would make a strong cup using my moka pot. And on Tuesday I'd pull out my Chemex coffee maker that I haven't used in forever.
For Wednesday, a classic cup on the drip. Thursday I might sip through one cup a bit longer than usual. And who knows what'll happen on Friday.
Every single day of the week I would have time to get up, yawn & stretch in the morning sunlight of sunny California (my home state), and make myself a second cup of coffee.
That was the plan.
And it happened.
It took me 2 years to build a strong enough business that I was able to quit my job in China, move back to the US, buy a house, and that's how I spend my mornings. I don't always have two cups of coffee. It depends on how I make it, and what I have going on that day.
If the caffeine kicks in faster than usual on the first cup then I'm ready to start the day going 60 miles an hour. But sometimes I need a little extra time (and caffeine!). The point is that I have the option to get a slow start to my day, which is how I want to live.
On my terms.
THAT'S what this site is about.
Living life on YOUR terms, not someone else's.
Heck, you might not even be a coffee drinker. You might not mind getting up in the morning. But who doesn't want to be their own boss? Who doesn't want to be in control of their financial future?
Is there anyone who, given the option to design from scratch, every day of their life, starting tomorrow, that would say, “Nah, I'll stick with my 9 to 5.” ?
Whatever your dreams are, have freedom from the time constraints of a JOB and being financially independent will open up new opportunities to you.
Being in control of your life, rather than letting someone else control it with a paycheck will invigorate you; Make you hungry for life, rather than floating through the gray apathy of ‘no-other-choice'.
But I've left out a big chunk of the story.
How did I get from being A to Z?
What did I do, and will you be able to do the same? It wasn't easy, I'll tell you that. Unlike most “make money online” sites, I won't lie to you. This is going to take some hard work. And your biggest challenge may surprise you. The most difficult thing you will face will not be your competition. It's certainly not Google (Google actually wants to HELP you)
The most formidable foe you will come up against if you decide to take this on, is…
You will question yourself along the way. You will tell yourself that you're “not cut out for this”.
You will want to quit. I know, because I've been through it. But if I did it. You can do it. I started out just like you.
You can read more about the , see more about what I do, and how to learn for yourself, but the point is that I didn't wake up one morning and know to make a profitable business on the internet.
If you've ever seen one of those “Guru” videos that tell you they have a “turn-key” system, guaranteed to make you money, with just ten minutes of work, just set-it-and-forget-it type stuff, they're lying.
There is no business anywhere that would allow someone to do 10 minutes of work and make a profit for the rest of your life.
What you need is to learn how to make a real online business. It is possible, if you let me teach you.
I've only covered some general topics here like what my site is about, a bit about my story, and some vague ideas of how to make money online. Here are some things that you MUST read before you get started. If you are complete beginner, I have two suggestions for you.
I have lots of free information here on my site, and these particular pages are great if you're just starting your journey into the world of online business.
PLEASE read them. These articles will give you more insight into what you'll be doing, how you'll be making money, and what you need to know BEFORE you get started.
